Features
Set-up Fee: One time Set-up Fee of $75.00. You may move up or down to another plan at any time without an additional set-up fee.
Host Fee: Your fee for the next subscription period is billed on the anniversary date of your sign up.
Contract Term: Quarterly, Biannual and annual subscriptions are available.
True VPS: Our advanced host environment provides a true virtual private server (VPS), using advanced technology called Virtuozzo from SW-Soft. Our "true VPS" service eliminates the security and reliability issues of shared hosts. Your environment will have all of the benefits of a server fully dedicated to your use, without the complexity and cost of a dedicated server. Virtuozzo is vastly superior to all other methods of implementing virtual servers.
Dedicated IP address: Each host plan is issued a dedicated IP address for its exclusive use. This means that your domain will not be at risk for blacklisting.
Monitoring: Servers are monitored and administered 24/7/365 to ensure maximum up time.
Phone Support: Technical support via the phone is provided for all hosting accounts. Guaranteed technical support hours are 8 AM to 6 PM Monday -Friday central time excluding holidays. Email support requests are monitored day and night. 24/7/365 voice mail support is monitored. You will also receive a login to submit service request and enhancement request to the www.cynergysupport.com corporate site, because we use what we sell.

System Backups: All plans have daily automatic system backups. Your entire environment is saved to a high capacity disk array, with a retention period of a minimum of seven days. Our sophisticated backup management system allows us to restore your entire environment from one of these backups in a very short period of time. A system back up can be purchased on DVD for $30.00 per backup.
ASP.NET (IIS 6.0): All plans support ASP.NET using IIS 6.0.
.NET Framework: We chose the Windows Server 2003 operating system for efficiency and reliability of our hosting environment. You get the proven reliability of the .NET Framework 2.0.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 is the operating system.
Resource Allowances
Disk Space: Each plan requires about 25 - 40 MB of disk space, depending on which application services are selected, which counts against your allowance. Disk space used in excess of the plan allowance is billed at $.10/MB per month. Your entire environment, including all services and data, is backed up in the daily system backup service at no extra charge.
Traffic: All traffic in excess of the plan allowance is billed at $5 per GB.
Guaranteed Memory: Our plans have ample memory to run your application services. The number listed in the chart is your guaranteed memory. Many companies promise high memory allocations and then overload the server, reducing the amount of available memory for each customer. Our memory is a guaranteed minimum.
Number of Processes: Each plan has an allowance for the maximum number of processes that can be run at any given time, as indicated.
Application Services
ASP.NET: ASP.NET has been packaged the Windows based servers for optimal performance. Also included in the package is IIS 6.0, which ensures the reliability of your application by restarting it automatically if it crashes or hangs. Our technical support representatives are ASP.NET experts.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express: All hosting plans have access to a private, integrated instance of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express database server at no extra charge. Disk space used is counted against the plan allowance.
PC Magazine Reports on Why VPS is Superior to Shared Hosting
An article by Larry Seltzer in the July, 2004 issue of PC Magazine warns about the perils of Shared Hosting. He correctly points out the shortcomings of the shared hosting environment in the areas of security, reliability, and email blacklisting.
Shared hosting describes the basic technical approach where every customer has a separate directory for their programs and data. The file access security mechanism of the operating system is the only means of preventing unauthorized access. Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting is an advanced technical approach which partitions a computer into separate virtual servers, which are totally insulated from one another.
Security - Regarding security, Seltzer states that it is relatively easy for a hacker to infiltrate the server due to vulnerabilities in the operating environment - "If the attacker gains control of the server or the database, you're all just as vulnerable. And the attacker may not even be an outsider - it can be another customer."
Reliability - With respect to the reliability of shared hosts, Seltzer notes that "generic shared hosting accounts, on the other hand - the ones with access to Perl, PHP and (shudder!) shell accounts - are potential disasters. It's very easy for one customer to impact all of the others with a badly written program."
E-mail Blacklisting - As part of the effort to block spam, blacklists have been developed to help identify the source of the spam. The IP address of known spammers is placed in the blacklist which is checked by mail servers as part of their routine to filter out spam. Unfortunately, most shared host services use a common IP address for many customers. As described by Seltzer, "If one of the major RBLs (Realtime Blackhole Lists), such as Mail Abuse Prevention System (http://mail-abuse.org) decides to block e-mail from the mail server you share, because some other domain on the same server had been spamming, it won't be your fault but you'll pay the same price all the same."
Seltzer wraps up his article by advising users of shared hosting services to research the hosting company and the services they offer carefully because "it's better to pay a little more up front to be sure you're safe."
